The city means
different things to different people. Our perception of the city is not a
constant but ever changing.
In this show, six
artists ‘enter’ the city through different vantage points, and explore its
colours and contours in unique ways. In their work, they offer fresh and
diverse perspectives, subtly hinting at the city’s delights and mysteries;
symbols and emblems; shades and nuances; burdens and trappings; relationships
and contradictions.
The paintings in this
exhibition are not just pretty pictures or empty slogans. They are little
vignettes of and delicate commentaries on the city; each one presented with
intimate feeling, contemplation and unpretentious understanding.
