'SaNsA -3', International Artists’ Workshop, Kumasi, Ghana (June 2-16, 2009)

In India, mango leaves represent purity and considered to be auspicious; they are often used in celebration and as symbols of welcome. Using this as the motivation, I cut and printed hundreds of paper mango leaves, which were hung in the entrance to the workspace. While I arrived at the workshop with this idea and the necessary materials,  I drew inspiration from the rich textile designs I saw around Kumasi marketplace.

'WELCOME' - installation with wood block print on rice paper & coloured thread.
